“I have been a patient with this practice for more than four years, and my recent experience has been one of the most stressful and traumatic healthcare experiences I’ve ever had. I was told by a front desk employee that I could no longer be seen because I live in West Virginia, despite having Pennsylvania insurance through my employer and always attending my appointments in Pennsylvania. I was asked if I wanted to be discharged. I was crying on the phone and said, “If I don’t have a choice.” My discharge was processed anyway. Afterward, I spent months trying to get back into the practice because no psychiatric offices near me accepted my Pennsylvania insurance. I had to repeatedly call while in crisis, begging to be accepted back. I was initially told I would have to wait 6–8 weeks as a new patient before someone finally agreed to bring me back sooner. Because I had been discharged, I had to complete the entire intake process again. My patient portal was reset, and years of treatment history disappeared. I was no longer able to continue with the psychiatrist I had been seeing for years. During my intake, I was specifically asked whether I preferred a male or female provider. I explained that I needed a female provider because of significant past trauma involving men. Recently, I called simply to schedule my follow-up appointment after noticing my patient portal showed that I didn’t have one scheduled. I was told I could only be scheduled with a male provider who had taken over another provider’s patients. When I reminded the scheduler that I had requested a female provider because of trauma, I was told she couldn’t schedule me with a woman and that I would have to wait until the following week for someone to call me back. This pattern of poor communication and lack of empathy has had serious consequences. Psychiatric patients rely on continuity of care. We rely on these appointments and medications to function, work, and stay healthy. Being repeatedly given incorrect information, discharged, forced to restart as a new patient, and then left unable to schedule with the type of provider I had specifically requested has caused an incredible amount of emotional distress. I understand that providers take leave and schedules change. My frustration is not with that. My frustration is with the way administrative decisions were handled and the apparent lack of understanding of how profoundly they affect patients who depend on psychiatric treatment. I hope this practice takes a hard look at how patients are treated when they call for help. No one seeking mental health care should be made to feel invisible, dismissed, or like they’re just another name on a schedule.”
“I worked with Greta for over a year. She truly cares about her patients, is thoughtful about medication, and respects my opinions. At first, I was hesitant about starting medication, and she completely respected my concerns. When I later became more open to it, she suggested a gradual approach and always listened carefully to my thoughts and experiences with the treatment. She was also able to identify my underlying conditions and clearly explain the pros and cons of different treatment options. I have improved a lot and am doing better now! She was my first psychiatrist and helped me tremendously. I highly recommend reaching out to Greta for support.”
“Great people and helpful services. Would recommend to anyone as they have made my treatment a very easy process and are very knowledgeable of the medications. They have the best communication from any medical provider I’ve ever been to, I enjoy being a patient here. The office is pretty chill too :)”
“This was my first time meeting Paul Ruberg while my usual provider is on leave. Paul was kind, professional, thorough & knowledgeable. I feel very comfortable with him managing my care on this part of my mental health journey.”
