“I saw a therapist here for a few months in 2024/2025 after having previously seen a therapist through Heart-Centered Counseling which was Lifestance's previous name. While my therapists were completely wonderful (thank you to both of them!), I had to stop seeing them when they left Lifestance. As I started my therapy in 2024, I noticed that what Lifestance was billing me was inconsistent with the Explanation of Benefits I was receiving from my insurance provider. I brought it up with my therapist who spoke to billing for me and found that her other patients were experiencing the same thing and that Lifestance had incorrectly billed my insurance as me seeing an out-of-network therapist when she was definitively in-network. She told me Lifestance would re-bill sessions to ensure they were billed correctly. She did her best to deal with the billing department on my behalf, and I also called them a couple times as the issue didn't seem to ever get resolved. I told her I was nervous that I would one day receive a large bill for my sessions, and now months down the line and no longer a patient, that's exactly what happened. I have called and spoken with Lifestance's billing department multiple times since this happened over the past year, was assured that they noted the issue on my file, would fix it, and would call me back with updates. I have never heard back from them. I called my insurance provider and was told the issue was with Lifestance and to speak with them. I checked my insurance portal to see that some of my sessions were re-billed with the correct co-pay amount under the old name "Heart-Centered Counseling," but not all of my sessions have still been correctly billed. Today, not having been a patient for almost a year, I got a notice that my bill was sent to collections, and I will now be dealing with this issue through their collections agency. This has been a massive nuisance, their billing department seems to be a complete mess and my many asks for help with this issue seem to have fallen on deaf ears. TL;DR: The therapists here are wonderful! This office in particular is very nice and clean, it's a calming environment. However, dealing with their billing department is the opposite experience and has been nothing but a headache. Always check your EoB from your insurance provider if you are seeing a therapist with Lifestance, and if your billing issues don't get resolved right away, leave and look somewhere else for therapy services.”
