What patients say on Google

“The clinician was very attentive and interested in my story of what landed me where I am today. I appreciated his time, and know this is not typical of psychiatrists to get into so much backstory. Further, he wasn’t promoting medication, but rather suggested if I can find a way to handle challenges without, it might better. Overall, I was impressed.”

“I do not recommend Dr. Stephane. Horrible first interaction. His approach to understanding his patients is to ask a series of questions and cast judgement. This was by far and away one of the most frustrating interactions I have ever had with someone working in healthcare. It was clear he did not read my intake paper work or the referral from my Primary Care Provider. If the decision to decline a follow up appointment wasn’t clear enough already, the $700 billed to my insurance for a 20-minute appointment was.”

“I’ve never seen doctor being such arrogant and disrespectful. I had an extremely bad experience with Psychiatrist Massoud Stephane regarding anxiety and sleep issues. He prescribed me some medication to help with my sleep with 3 pills a day. After 3 weeks I told him i feel very dizzy and have a lot nightmares with the medicine, which affect my daily work and me driving safely, so I reduce to only took 1-2 pills a day. I tried to seek help if I could have alternatives that has less side effects. He refused that my side effect is coming from the medicine and blamed on me not taking the medicine as the schedule he set and said my dizziness comes from my anxiety (I do not have dizziness before the medicine and I as gradually reduce the doze, the dizziness gets better). During our conversation, he keeps interrupting me and being very arrogant. I would never recommend doctor like this for people who are suffering depression already. No empathy and even no respect.”

“Normally I do not leave reviews but this encounter was exceptionally unpleasant. If it were possible to choose zero stars I would. My appointment was the first with Dr. Stephane, my provider of greater than twenty years, changed practices and I was not able to see him at the new practice. Dr. Stephane was on the referral list I was given by my former provider. Dr. Stephane was arrogant, unprofessional, condescending and judgmental. After introductions I attempted to explain the purpose of my appointment. He stopped me and said “I will ask you questions.” He asked about my living situation, and when I said I was living with my partner of thirteen years, he made a disapproving comment, I assume because he perceived we are not married. He then moved on to my current medication. He said the dose was too high and I need to taper down my dosage. He made a comment about my age saying I was too old to take that dose. He made comments about addiction etc. When I attempted to explain to him my former provider and I had gone through many changes in medications and dosages with some medications having horrible side effects, Dr. Stephane was defensive and condescending. I am aware that he does not know me or is familiar with my medication needs but I do not believe the way to establish a professional relationship is by expressing unfounded judgement and belittling.”
