What patients say on Google

“The reviews left on this page so far seem to be from people’s first time trying out Kevin’s services. I am able to speak as a long-term client. Kevin has some very good qualities. He has the best intentions for his patients, is easy to talk to and makes you feel comfortable. He has a balanced view on certain matters, is able to very beautiful explain the concept of Christian love, as well as offering sharp psychological insights. And in general, he is a very kind human. With that said, there are people who will not fit with Kevin’s approach, and these are the things I desperately wish I knew upfront. Kevin adheres strongly to reformed theology. If you also align with reformed beliefs, his approach may resonate with you. However, if you do not share that worldview, it’s important to know that his style is more about guiding clients toward his theological perspective rather than walking with them through their own unique journey. In my experience, he was not at all able to professionally adapt outside of this, despite frequent requests for him to do so, and assurance from him that he would. And because of reformed theology’s emphasis on total depravity, my experiences were often met with unwarranted skepticism from the very beginning, and an underlying shame-based approach. Additionally, Kevin’s sessions did not feel structured. There was little sense of direction, which I only realized after meeting with another therapist that does well in this. After my husband and I were introduced to the Gottman style of marriage therapy, all our time with Kevin had felt like a waste, as our marriage saw more progress in weeks versus it worsening under Kevin’s guidance. Although, some may prefer more casual talk therapy. There is a whole lot more I could say about my own experience, but I refrain for the sake of privacy and in my own attempts to speak truth in love. I think Kevin has the potential to be a good therapist for some people, perhaps great if he worked on some professional skills, for others, I would be aware of what is noted above.”

“I like the opportunity to Zoom as it allows minimal interference in my schedule and the feed/sound is fine.”
